In 1289, King Phillip has decided to construct a truly outstanding castle - Caylus. Players take on the role of master builders competing to help King Phillip build his castle, balancing castle building and developing the city around it with the limited number of workers they have available. A deeply engrossing, highly involving game, Caylus is not for your casual board gamer, but if you are willing to spend the time to learn the game, it can be deeply rewarding.

In Caylus, players compete to win points by successfully managing their resources to develop both the castle and the city around them. Each turn, players take turns placing a single worker in the buildings available, allowing them to take the benefits of the building, which can be money (to place a worker in a building) or resource cubes to build additional buildings. Players can also build on the castle itself to win royal favours that can benefit them greatly. While the gameplay itself is simple, the myriad choices and an in-game adjustable rounds track makes the game a deeply strategic game.
