Top Ten Party Games
There are more party games at Thirsty Meeples than any other genre of games. Simply put, we love our party games. We estimate the learning to laughter ratio of party games is about 1 : 40. Party games can be picked up in minutes whilst the laughter extends into hours. Some detailed and extensive research commissioned by Thirsty Meeples proved that all brains need a gentle ripple of laughter to stay supple. You owe it to your noggin to kick back with some of our party games once in a while. And really, is there any better way to spend quality time with your friends and family?
Choosing our top ten was incredibly tough. Sorry to all those fabulous games that didn’t make the Top 10 (we’re looking at you Werewolf, Apples to Apples, Resistance, Saboteur and BANG!).
You just need to drop all pretensions of being a hipster and instead let rip with your fastest 'baaaa', 'woof' or 'quack' to be the first person to giveaway their cards. Essentially a quick fire game of snap where matched cards lead to a head to head sound-off, as you try to imitate your opponent's hidden animal. Sounds stupid? Yeah!! Thirsty Meeples' guilty pleasure.
Something for the inner caveman & cavewoman in us all. The goal is to build a structure according to the primitive grunts and gestures issued by the rest your tribe. Get it wrong or be too slow and the trusty spiked club will be careening off your head. Ugg!
8 Jungle Speed
Be the quickest to get rid of your cards by giving them to your friends. Each players lays a card at the same time - see a match & grab the totem. Careful though: some cards trick you into thinking they are the same. A game of quick reaction and keen observation.
7 Snake Oil
Polish up your most oily sales patter as you pitch imagined products to the waiting customer. One player is the customer the others are dodgy salespersons touting their made-up wares according to two word cards. Creativity and thinking on your feet win the day in this laugh out loud party game as each player competes to be the greasiest seller.
6 Panic on Wall Street!
Players take on the roles of company managers and investors (stay with me...) leading to an intense and noisy two-minute free-for-all as purchase prices for shares are negotiated. The dice (simulating the economy) are rolled, earnings collected and negotiations start again! A total blast - but be warned things will get noisy!
5 Time's Up
A celebrity guessing game against the clock. It all seems so easy in the first round, but by round 3 when the only clues given are actions, things don't go quite so well. And then there's that timer.... very frantic and stacks of fun.
4 Ca$h 'n Gun$
"Hey! Tough guy! Gimme me the money!". "Ha. Yo mama's a pyjama". "Brother, you ain't gettin the loot". "Speak to the gun, cos this gangster ain't listening". BANG BANG. A game of gangster cunning, bluff and shoot outs. Last player standing takes the loot. Foam guns included!
A fast paced drawing game that we guarantee will lead to hilarious and unpredictable results. A distinct lack of drawing skill definitely adds to the mayhem and laughter.
2 Wits & Wagers
The great trivia equaliser! You don't need to know trivia to win, you just need to follow the odds and bet on the most likely answer. Check out the family and party versions too. Hugely fun game!
With stunning and evocative imagery, players take turns describing their hidden card using a word, a sentence or even just a sound. Other players secretly lay a card to match the description. Voting ensues - but which player will grab the points and move their rabbit meeple forwards? A beautiful and amazing game. Rabbit Meeples!!
